RETREAT DETAILS
WHERE: River’s Bend Retreat Center in Philo, CA
The Navarro River runs through the Anderson Valley and then curves at River’s Bend
to create a still point for contemplation, ecological understanding and deep connection between land and people.
ABOUT: As People of African descent, we rarely get a chance to breathe, move, play, rest, or dream together.
On this weekend retreat, supported by the wisdom and purity of the natural world, we will do just that. The last two years have been challenging for our collective mind, body, and spirit. This retreat invites us all into a state of rejuvenation and nourishment.
We will co-create a safe space where participants are invited to:
EXPLORE alone and together through free form movement, yoga asana, facilitated inquiries, eclectic music, stillness, and silence.
PRACTICE cultivating presence and spontaneous expression in a judgment-free environment where “it’s not about how it looks, it’s about how it feels.”
LEARN somatic tools that expand our capacity to embody the wisdom of our ancestors and reframe our future.
EXPERIENCE feeling alive and at home in our bodies.
GROW new seeds of resilience and weave a fabric of new possibilities.
ALL PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT ARE WELCOME – Beginners and dance devotees. All ages and all genders are encouraged to attend.
ALL INCLUSIVE FEE: Camping ($350/$425/$500). Lodging ($550/$625/$700)
Your all- inclusive fee depends on the type of accommodation you choose (camping or lodge). It covers tuition, accommodations, 1 meal on Friday, 3 meals on Saturday and 2 meals on Sunday, and all the swimming, relaxation and sunbathing you can handle.
Movement Liberation Cancellation Policy

If you do not attend your registration fee will be donated to the Movement Liberation Scholarship Fund.
